                    400 grams of meat (soup bones)

½ head of cabbage

1 beet

1 carrot

1 large potato

1 onion

1 tablespoon of lemon juice

1 tablespoon of tomato sauce or ketchup

Salt/pepper to taste


                Step 1:
Rinse the meat, cover it with water, and bring it to a boil. Once it boils, drain the water and refill the pot with clean water. Continue boiling until the meat is tender, skimming off any foam that forms. Remove the meat from the broth.

Step 2:
Shred the cabbage. Grate the carrot and beet using a coarse grater. Finely chop the onion.

Step 3:
In a skillet without oil, add a bit of the broth and the grated beet, lemon juice, and tomato paste. Sauté for about 15 minutes.

Step 4:
Add the onion, carrot, potato, and cabbage to the boiling broth. Cook for about 15 minutes or until the potato is tender.

Step 5:
Cut the meat into pieces and add it back to the broth.

Step 6:
Add the sautéed beet mixture to the broth, mix, and remove from heat. The soup is ready. Serve with fresh herbs and sour cream.
